Spaying

diagram of female reproductive organs in cat

Spays are a routine procedure performed at Kennedy Road Veterinary Hospital. Spaying is the surgical removal of the female reproductive organs in animals and has many benefits for your pet. Not only does spaying prevent your pet from reproducing, but a correctly timed spay significantly reduces the risk of female hormone related diseases and cancers (breast, uterine and ovarian).

Spaying will not alter your pets personality and can potentially help your pet live a longer, healthier, and happier life.

Spaying also eliminates heat cycles in females thereby preventing the spotting, pacing, and crying out that is usually associated with the reproductive cycle.

Along with the multitude of health benefits that spaying offers, it also helps to control the pet population reducing the number of unwanted pets in animal shelters.
